Panda Habitait Research in China

Human Touch
MSU researchers track humanity's impact on habitat

There are no simple answers as to how we share the earth.

Humankind leaves footprints – whether we chop trees, burn fossil fuels, or even just visit.

Scientists at Michigan State University are seeking to understand this impact. In the Wolong Panda Nature Reserve in the Sichuan Province of southwestern China, a team is documenting and sharing information about how people affect the fragile habitat of the beloved, and endangered, giant panda.

It’s work that can lead to a better understanding of humanity’s effect on nature worldwide. It’s also a beginning in striking the balance between people and nature.

We hope to give you a look at the work – and the people behind it.
